UPDATED POST: Guess what?!

Monday, 2 July 2012

Heeelloowww !

Howa yu?

Guess what? I know that is what the title says but guess though?

I saw the Olympic Torch so that makes me a feee hiiii peeee (VIP)- Haha!
I know its no big deal but at least  I saw the gold torch adored by millions.
Source
Okay lemme start from the top.

On Friday  about a week ago now- I should have posted this last week, a colleague of mine handed me the Olympic Torch  route list I highlighted the places close to my abode that I could “possibly” go see it if I could really be bothered to go see it.

Anyways- on Monday 25th we had a few minutes off in the morning to go see it if we wanted. I was not fussed, keen or adamant as in whatever word that goes with “simply not bothered” on seeing the Torch because I felt it was just a Torch so yea!

Over the weekend, there were signs everywhere informing individuals about the Olympic Torch event bla bla- expect delays or find alternate routes- that kinda stuff so I just assumed that it was just going to be around(I know its gist but I gotta do some introduction so chill and read on! ;-) ) On the list though- it said it was going to go past a street not far from mine And Voila- it did!
We all reached for their phones there were sooooo many kiddies on the roadside waiting for the OT (tired of typing Olympic Torch now- although I just did *ptcheww). Then came initially the Police on their Motor Bikes raising the kiddies blood pressure adrenaline, the music bus and the first big bus went ahead, then came cyclists and then the OT!

We waited for a bit before the OT itself came by! It was so surreal that I did not have to go far to see it- it was right in front of my eyes.

-          The day before, Soeur and I were day-dreaming out loud on our way back from church saying  imagine the torch bearer being Funke Akindele that we'd yell Jenifer!, or  Banky W we would have yelled “Its Banky W” (in his voice) and then like a car screeching to a halt I said- can we stopping dreaming about this because they are only likely to carry the Torch in London or Coventry or somewhere like that.

Soeur made a quick friend on the OT bus- when the bus carrying the rest of the Torchbearers went by- this particular guy waved to her like she had known him since Kindergarten.

We all made videos but I’m only putting up one of them here. For your eyes only!

Have I missed blogging? Well I do not even need to answer that- this post should answer!

I know I know I have been off the radar in fact, I have been far away from the radar until it located me on the new planet called Planet Busy!
Throughout the month of May I think it’s safe to say I was a conveyor belt- busy 24/7. I barely hung out at all in May- last May was a busy busy month for me. You want to know what I was doing? Gimme a call on 01-missytee and I’ll give you every tinny little detail. Don't wanna bore people with the uber long list.
How have you all been by the way?

To those who checked up and asked why my blog was so quiet- thanks a bunsheeeees! You all are the best!

I just finished reading Atilola’s book- Yep I started today and finished today. I started reading saying okay I should finish this by tomorrow but seriously I just could not get myself to close the page- it was fabulous I really like the Chief Goshe’s bit, My own enemy (I think there is a word missing there I can't recall atm but it should return), The Lagos Bus Conductor, The lady preacher- Fire and Brimstone preacher??, the street with numerous churches seriously lets just say I loved them all. I was putting off reading the book till I bought the hard copy but I could not resist.  I think I might be the first to actually write a review on Amazon- we’ll see. Oh and the bit Mrs PRESSURED? that says that people should not call me Mama *insert child’s name* I am Atilola even if I have 20 children.......... J’adore that bit- I agree 100%! Or is it this Parrot girl  you wanna talk about- okay I’ll stop analysing the book now. Click on the link on my blog on the right for more as in I mean buy the book and read it!
I shall read the book again!

I need to apologise publicly by the way to Atilola-  I did get your email but I haven’t been able to reply SORRY!!! but I have managed sort it out- I hope I am forgiven? :-) I’m not usually like that- I reply emails regularly it’s just this one time.

Atilola's Book

Hey guys,

This is a book by Atilola (duh! the cover says it, I like analogy too much!!!). Please watch the trailer below, read the preview and I shall be giving a copy away at some point so watch this space!!
PS- if you do read this Atilola- Thumbs up again- very well done.....superduper proud!!!

A preview from ‘In My Pocket’

‘Goshe – A short form of Shokolokobangoshe
Scenario 2
Mummy Bobo: Olowo ori mi (owner of my head), how was that favourite food ofyours that I made for you? I am sure you enjoyed it. I have come to tell you about Bobo, your son. He is about to write his SSCE exams. The other day, I heard my senior wife bragging to her cousin that kola, her son, made all his papers two years ago because he is hardworking and brilliant. She then said she is sure Bobo will do the opposite and fail woefully. Olowo ori mi, please, don't let my enemies laugh at me. I know you can help me get the exam questions on the eve of every exam paper. This is the only way Bobo will be able to prove her wrong and shut her mouth forever. Daddy Bobo, you always say you love me more than my senior wife and if you really mean that, you will not let her have the last laugh over me.
Chief Goshe: Woman! Woman!! Woman!!!I have always warned you about this Bobo of a boy, but you will never listen tome. You spoil him too much, I hope he won't be the source of your downfall in future. Anyway, I will give you what you request, after which he will go to the UK to start his foundation course. You better warn your son to buckle up now, because there is no way I will fly over to meet David Cameron to organize exam papers by the time he gets to the UK. A word is enough for the wise. For now,the exam questions are not a problem. I have the education sector IN MY POCKET!

Scenario 3
Oloyinbo: (Getting up from his twominutes prostration, which Chief Goshe acknowledged by massaging his head with the sole of his left foot, he then starts hailing loudly) Baba Goshe, Baba mi,you will live long, your enemies will not see their children. Anyone that says it will not be well with you, it won't be well with them too.
Baba mi, the time has come. I need your help seriously. It’s time for the councillor election for the local constituencies. As I told you last year, I intend to contest and since I have adopted you as my political father, who else will I run to but you? Baba Goshe, don't worry about my credentials. The minimum requirement is the SSCE result and I have already sorted that out with some boys and now have my results. All I need now is your backing and support.Baba mi, I am in your hand now o.
Chief Goshe: Oloyinbo, my nephew, see your mango head like that of my father. You want to run for councillor, hmm? I thought you were joking when you mentioned it last year. I hope you know the implications of what you are doing? The politics of our time is not for the lily-livered at all. You have to be on your toes at all times. Be ready to make friends and enemies, be ready to do anything to protect your political career and even your life from political detractors. It’s a dog eat dog world and make sure you are ready for all the consequences. You should have just accepted the business I offered to set up for you, but you youths of nowadays have been bitten by the get-rich-quick bug. Since you insist, I will help you. I will take you to a meeting tomorrow, where you will meet some powerful people. But know this one thing, you must not, in turn, bite the fingers of these powerful people, including mine, when you win. You will have to dance to their tunes.Otherwise, the ground will have no choice but to reject you.
After tomorrow, your victory is a done deal. Even if you don't contest, you have won! It’s a done deal, I have the electoral system IN MY POCKET!

Seriously- What is the matter?

Hey bloghearts,

So whats the matter with Nigeria right now?

Its so annoying and heart-breaking to so see people losing their lives and being killed for no reason at all. So about 150 people have been killed in Kano, Nigeria by *you know who*.
I have been keeping away from saying anything about *you know who* on my blog but I just have to at this moment.
Why are Nigerians being treated like this? What is going on? Is it nearing the endtime as described Revelations? What? Why? Who? When?....those are the questions being asked by Nigerians.
-If you have noticed, I just am so dumbfounded about the issue that all I can do is ask questions-
It is disheartening and appalling. Seriously????

Also about the fuel price at N95? Nigerians kind of dissappointed mehn. I did not think they'd settle for anything higher than the former N65. They should note that because Uncle Jona has agreed for fuel price to be reduced to N95 does not mean he doesn't know what he is doing. When fuel price hits N147 in the future again, they will be unconsciously roped in to accept that price. For crying out loud, right now fuel is N3 away from N100 per litre!!!! Really? Wooooooow- I still don't gree- I think I'll continue my protest over here.

Also about Seal and Heidi Klum's divorce. WHAT?? I thought they were the perf... couple. All these famous people, J-Lo and Marc, Kim and Kris, Katy and Russell and now Heidi and Seal??
Wooowooowoooowie!
They keep getting married and divorced like they are changing their babies nappies!
Well......some rantings of mine.

Chao!

Merry Happy New Year sugars. *I'm going to act like I haven't been away for too long *silent apology*.
Hope 2012 is going good for you guys and you are keeping up with your resolutions? Don't let them slip though (wait till Feb and I bet you'd even forget about the list of resolutions).
So so so, I can't act like I haven't been hearing things about Nigeria the great in the news for like forever now. First thing I heard of was the fuel subsidy removal and the fuel price hike to N147 from N65.
First up, I think the people we have in government now are so rich that they believe everybody in Nigeria can afford to buy fuel for N147.
They are so covered in the face with the wealth and affluence that it is so hard for them to see that Nigerians are not happy with the way they are being governed.
*I do not intend to mention names or curse or point fingers*
Nigerians do not have a good source of electricity, majority of the people in Nigeria run their electrical appliances on their own private energy source, the ever faithful generators. No wonder Chinese and Japanese generator makers enjoy business in Nigeria. That is one thing the government has turned a blind eye to for decades. To further increase people's agony, they are hiking the fuel price meaning that they might not be able to use their generators like before, people might not be able to use their cars like before. This therefore leads to increased armed robbery rates not only due to the hike but the darkness as a result of no electricity source in Nigeria will become more pronounced, people will have to start walking and using public transport means of which they will also increase their transport fares forcing some people to resort to walking long distances or just point blank sitting at home, becoming jobless. Removing the fuel subsidy doesn't even seem like there is going to be any difference because it wasn't even felt before so removing it and adding it to something else also does not mean what it is being added to is going to be felt- that's just some rambling thoughts. Notwithstanding, I am not supporting the fuel subsidy removal.
Nigeria's so called budget is probably NOT for Nigeria because it is NOT felt in Nigeria. All that budget for maintenance, education and bla bla bla, it is all gist. Buildings have been erected for decades and they do not do any silly maintenance on them so they end up collapsing, yet they claim that there is some budget for building maintenance? pls tell that to the trees, they are willing to hear all that, that's just an example.

Happy New Year!

Hey there bloghearts,

Talk about miss you guys, I have missed you guys so very much you can't even imagine. I should have posted this during the week but I spent the most of Monday on a train going down the map. It was tiring, annoying but trust me it was all worth it.

Before that, Update on my Christmas shopping. I finally got round to doing my Christmas shopping a week exactly before Christmas- Last Sunday!!!!!!! It kind of cost more than it would if I paid a lot of attention to my shopping and if I did it in advance. Also about my Christmas tree, I finally put that up on Thursday evening. Sigh- Thank God for 2011! It was snowing cat and dogs last Christmas but the weather forecast is 15 degrees Celsius max for Christmas- thats awesome.

Ok moving on to the three days of fun story:

I decided to go visit my sister 'Miss Tee' as I'd love to call her here (Yes she is Miss Tee too! and no not Miss Tee from this post and post) as  it was her postgrad grad (you know what I mean) so I hopped on the train to begin the journey there. So being that I hadn't been over to hers in a year- I didn't take much clothes and accessories because I thought I was returning up the map the next day. When I got there- my mind changed with immediate effect.
First up, I left at past 1pm to commence a journey that was meant to last about 4-5 hours max. But my train was delayed and I was carrying this big cake along with me that she had no clue whatsoever about. But due to all the delays and everything guess what happened, I miss the whole grad thing!!!!! I was so mad at myself and the train that I couldn't even talk when everyone was calling to ask where I was. I then texted them all and told them to text me instead cuz I can't talk. I was hiding under the 'tired' excuse when to be honest I was ANGRY!!!
So my sister was kind of getting worried that I was still far away and didn't even worry too much or get too angry that I missed the main show. When I arrived finally at almost 8'o' clock, she was busy taking pictures with her friend in the lounge when I just cropped up behind her. The look on her face when she saw me there was priceless that all the anger flew away with the birds. When she saw the cake too- the expression? undescribeable!
I was totally exhausted as I had not eaten real food all day apart from the couple of short bread biscuits I had on the train. So yea yea yea. She looked so pretty in her dress and all.
When I got upstairs and pushed the door open, my knees just gave way and I fell to the floor because I couldn't even stand anymore- Yes I was that tired! My cousin was there and he was shocked that I fell to the floor.

Anyways yea. So when everything settled down- my sister told me about a party that she was going to the next day and she persuaded me to stay. I jumped and said Yea, sure! not remembering that I didn't bring a lot of accessories and bla bla bla.
Lo and Behold, every other person left for their respective homes and then I was left with the trio making me the fourth and extra one.
Skip to the evening, one of the girls Miss I as I would like to call her on here was meant to go over to her sister's house in Manchester as she was (well she's left now) going over to Nigeria for Christmas.  'Miss I' booked her ticket a week or so ago at a reduced price. She was really excited then came the time for her to leave, she left for the train station with my sister and then she ran back again- I thought she left something and had found it but she returned again with my sister. Apparently, 'Miss I' had misplaced her card as she can only collect her ticket with the card used in booking it. She was really angry- we all helped her in looking for the card but couldn't find it. Then she called her sister and they started shouting at each other over the phone. All I could do was stare because she was obviously really angry.
That went by and it was time for us to get ready for the house party we were to attend. 'Miss I' then decided to come along which was a good idea.
We began the train journey of almost an hour to go stay at a party for about half an hour. I'm not complaining because it was fun and nice to be out.
Missy Tee- I like this picture because my face can't be seen fully.
This was when I was taking pictures for my blog.

Miss I- She was on the phone
for almost the whole journey

Miss I again- she was still on the phone but
the brolly was kind of away from her face

Miss Tee- She took the picture of  me and
we both kept dancing on the roads and at the train stations
to songs from her phone. (It was really loud)!

The last train station before the party destination.
We were waiting for the host to come get us.......

..........so I took some pictures, the words above are translated in Welsh below.
.........I couldn't resist.....

I didn't really like what I was wearing because I didn't pay a lot of attention and did not bring the clothes I would have loved to wear along. Anyway thats gone now.
I had so much funnnnnnn- I can't even explain it enough.
Those three days were pure and clean fun.......

Then I left along with Miss I on Wednesday on different trains to the same destination can you imagine but I had to catch a connecting train which was also delayed......sigh!
Miss I and Missy Tee...Miss O took this picture and I absolutely love it. It is perfect.

I've been baking and braiding (my hair that is)....

My sugar bananas!

I told you I'd be back in a few hours well I literally am blogging a few hours later....lol.

Thanks 9jafoodie  I'm back now. ;-) Please show 9jafoodie's website some love.. and don't forget to sign up!

Well the title is that because it rhymes but yea I've been baking,, braiding and cooking (but this is a psot for another day because I cannot seem to get the pictures up here but yea I'll sort that out for the next post- and 9jafoodies, you inspired the cooking bit!)

I loooovve baking so much that although I am not a professional baker I have sort of professional tools for baking. A non-professional baker would probably jusy have a spatula and a bowl and use spoons to measure and not bother buying the baking tins but just use cup cake cases.....' that's my little idea of what a non-professional baker who just bakes when they have to or for some reason have to bake an impromptu cake. wow look at all that rambling lol Ok back to my point. I do NOT bake all the time but I do sometimes when I just feel like because I think it is a relaxing activity and totally wonderful to bake for people. So I used my pretty WHITE mixer, my red spatula, my white measuring tool and my grey pans (I love the colors thats why I'm showing them off lol).
So I baked a couple of cakes; a carrot and lemon cake.
Like I emphasised above, I am not a professional baker so they definately won't look professionally made. *They are not quite circular and rectangular because I used a baking sheet rather than pour the mix directly into the baking tins so hence the funny shape*. I dint want my fresh looking tins to have burnt or dried marks on them.
So yea here are the little wonders.
PS- everyone that had a bit LOVED it to the fullest. Both cakes only lasted a day!!!!!!!! I would have iced them but due to lack of time and icing....well they still loved it. It was yummy!

Lemon cake

Be back in a minute...

Okay
See u in a bit.

Please say a prayer for Abuja and Nigeria as a whole

Rescue workers at UN building in Abuja, Nigeria - 26 August 2011
Source
Earlier today, headlines flashed....bomb blast in Abuja Nigeria. All I could do was drop my jaw. I was dazed. Wharis allvis? It aint cool at all.
When did Nigeria start all this? Nigeria was a country full of love, happiness and hope but now they seem to be bombing the whole place to the ground.
Nigeria needs prayers. lets all say a prayer for Nigeria that the unity that once existed between the various tribes and religions return that peace may return to the country.

BBC news kept repeating it over and over again, showing people climbing into the UN building using a ladder. That is so not cool!
At least 18 people were killed Friday in a bombing at a U.N. building in the Nigerian capital, a police spokesman said. Police commissioner Michael Zuokumo told reporters eight people had been injured.
Rescue officials at the scene in Abuja helped to pull the dead and injured from the rubble. Bomb squad officers and other security teams were also sent to the scene, deputy police spokesman Yemi Ajayi said.
A representative for the National Hospital said there was a shortage of blood to use in surgery. Hospital staff and relatives of the injured have been going to the blood bank to donate.
The hospital called in all doctors and nurses who were not working Friday to deal with the emergency, the spokeswoman said as ambulances brought people in.
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan condemned what he called a "barbaric, senseless and cowardly attack."
A statement issued by his office said extra security had been ordered in the area around the capital and Nigeria would do everything it could to bring the perpetrators to justice.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, addressing the media in New York, said exact casualty figures are not yet known but are likely to be "considerable."

Mikel Obi's father has been found- Great!

Source- Mikel Obi
This was breaking news allover the world about the kidnapping of Mikel Obi's father. At the time, Mikel was overseas probably in the UK when it happened. But he didn't put his job on the line instead he stayed back. That's quite brave!
But the great news is that his father has been found along with the people tryna extort N20 million from his "rich" son. They were thinking upside down. ptcheww

May God continue to watch over every single Nigerian and please be careful out there at all times. It can only get better in Nigeria.

Big ups to the Nigerian Police Force for a job well done-tracking them down in a matter of days!

It can only get better.

Fantasia is indeed PREGGERS!

Tuesday, 2 August 2011

Happy news: Former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino announced over the weekend that she is pregnant

A few weeks back, I remember putting a post up re- Fantasia and her man on holiday click here to read and she looked as though she had a baby bump (in the pictures)- well it indeed IS a lil baby in there.
Fantasia herself has confirmed that she is indeed expecting another child. She made the announcement on stage at a charity event on Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida and she doesn't care what anyone has got to say!
She said

You are the first [people] that I share this news with," she told the audience gathered at the opening of the Riverview Apartments complex. (Watch her full announcement below.)

"And I share this with you because I can relate to you. And for a while, I walked around figuring out what they will say and what will they think about me. But now I tell you, I don't live my life for folk."
"So, this child that I carry – God has given me this child. And I don't have to hide it from none of y'all."
